The First Call

How the First Call Works

Every initial call is answered personally by Attorney Levine — a licensed Pennsylvania family law attorney with nearly two decades of experience in Allegheny County family court. There is no payment required for the first call, and no intake process to navigate before speaking with counsel.

The first call is ten minutes — free, no obligation, and useful. Not everyone who calls will become a client, and not every caller needs one. The goal of the first call is for you to leave better informed than when you called, regardless of what you decide to do next.

We Handle Family Law Matters Because Your Family Matters.™
Pittsburgh Family Law Questions? We have answers.

What Happens After the First Call

Your Options After Speaking With Scott

After an initial call, you can decide to proceed in a number of ways — there is no pressure in any direction:

  • Retain full representation for your divorce, custody, or support matter — through trial and appeal if necessary
  • Decide you do not want to retain a lawyer — and leave with the information you needed
  • Decide it is time to leave an existing lawyer and see what a fresh perspective can offer
  • Schedule a paid phone meeting or video consultation to go deeper on a specific issue
  • Request a detailed retainer letter to retain services when you are ready
  • Retain representation for one specific hearing — support conference, custody conciliation, or final PFA hearing
  • Retain for a full matter — divorce with equitable distribution, establishing or modifying child support, spousal support, APL, custody, exclusive possession, and all related claims

Regardless of your situation, the first call exists to determine whether the firm can help and whether it is a good fit for moving forward together.

Note on volume: Due to the volume of calls and website inquiries, not every submission receives a return call. Those who do receive direct, one-on-one assistance from a licensed Pennsylvania family law attorney. The firm maintains a calculated caseload to provide each matter with the attention it deserves — which means not every potential client is accepted.

Video Conference

Remote Consultations and Representation

Video conferencing is available for all clients — both new and existing. The firm has been set up for remote work for over fifteen years. Consultations, strategy meetings, and document review are all available via video conference. For clients located outside Pittsburgh — including out-of-state and international clients with matters pending in Allegheny County — video conference is the standard method of communication.

The physical office at Bakery Square is available for in-person meetings when preferred, and satellite locations outside the city are available when clients cannot travel downtown.

Disclaimer

Submitting a request or inquiry does not create any attorney-client relationship. All information submitted is kept strictly confidential. Before becoming a client, you will need to complete and return a retainer letter which more fully details the terms of any representation. The firm does not accept every potential client; a calculated caseload is maintained to best serve the individual needs of clients who are accepted.
